will have to go sitting down such now we have come near the dolmen with us preetam is also there as you can see this place has been cleaned the amavasye after shivarathri is when they clean the place such and worship such as you can see here, all this let us see in detail along with preetam when i reached there elumarsamma named dolmen was being worshipped we waited till the pooje was over then we went there along with preetam one two , three four, this is the one which we saw last time isnt it? five six seven Me: just all together join into a tunnel? Preetam: it goes in as such Me: as per what preetam says these all join to become a tunnel way all seven join to become one tunnel way and goes ahead that is the main tunnel he says but now it is not there it seems Preetam: villagers go that way Me: villagers go there is it? the locals here say that inside it there were lingas but with passage of time the lingas have also disappeared you can see inside here there does not seem to be any tunnel way nothing in here looks like a tunnel Preetam: it is there on that side, it winds and goes Me: that side is it? but all this looks like it is closed one more is this, as you can see here it is not like a cave here is another one in this dolmen only so much is there here is another one this is another dolmen, this is a little long twice a week they worship the stone if we look closely we can see the carvings on the stone too earlier i had done a video about these dolmens in that many people enquired as to what is a dolmen what is its importance and significance some asked that isnt this a veeragallu? Dolmen means in new stone age or in Neolithic age period constructed small chamber or rooms as per historians these may be burial sites but in our dolmens here a lot of worship is done and also as per what locals say inside it lingas were there hence worship was has been done since ages they say and as per researchers these dolmen are as old as 3000 to 7000 years old one thing is for sure since these are being worshipped that is why these dolmens have survived it will remain in the future too since we do worship to it, hence so much importance is given to worship and for those who watched my previous video only till half they thought that i was going in search of veeragallu in our surrounding veeragallu is available in many places Dolmen are few in number In Karnataka as per my knowledge only in few places these Dolmens can be found but when i got to know that it is there near to hence i immediately went in search of it in kannada this is known as thaasu bandeya gorigallu the locals there call it as elu marsamma i got to know about this place from a newspaper article Mysore Kuvempunagaras Government First Grade college NSS Volunteers when there and cleaned that place that team consisted of NSS officer Dr.S G Ramadasa Reddy and college staff charan kumar also was there as per that newspaper article these dolmen are older than 3000 years and the significance of Dolmen is that before 3000 years in these places where Dolmens exist there existed Civilisation this is one proof also at that time our ancestors where aware of building such structures from this we can understand and for 3000 years people have protected these structures as we can see Hence the places where Dolmen are found become places of significance you can also see another comment Chidanand metri commented even in their village there were similar looking dolmens but now they have removed it and built a temple in its place many a places this is what is being done by demolishing the ancient structures concrete structures are being built in its place and to show that they have lot of money they are placing granite above the flooring as well but once they dismantle the ancient structure the ancient value which is associated with it, that is lost hence we have to as far as possible ensure that be it these kind of ancient structures or monuments even if it is single stone we need to learn to retain its original form this needs to be ensured by the locals now , be it those people who claim to be big people come and tell that let us collect money and then from it let us build a big temple here kindly the locals there should not agree to it by retaining the temple or structures original form around it let them build what ever they wish for to show off the money with money we can build what ever we want but the value for that original structure or form will not get for any new granite structure Me: here how do they celebrate the festival? Preetam: during the Amavasya after shivarathri then people whos home god this is they all come here and offer pooje here then after fulfilling their promises, there is a temple there there from there home they get rice, dal what ever is available and all together will have food all who have come for their home god, will offer pooje Me: the festival is for how many days? Preetam: yesterday god was washed and go Me: how or in what way do they wash and get? they go to the lake wash it well shine it nicely in this village there are two other ancient temples to celebrate a festival in this village along with this dolmen pooje is also offered at these temples now let us go and see those temples too this is known as pattaldamma temple those who do worship to dolmen here will also offer pooje in this temple here now let us see pattaladamma temple too this is the temple festival known as shivarathiri, then people come to the temple and offer pooje annually during the amavasya after shivarathri they offer the pooje and then in the evening the festival is celebrated Me: which god is this? Archakaru: Patladamma will there be pooje here all year round? tuesday and friday is the pooje here if someone calls us then too we will come then during festival those who have made promises and other rituals they do function and cut sheep if they call and come then we come and offer pooje Me: is this temple of ancient time? Archakaru: this temple is of ancient times built by the cholas Me: there after it has been renovated isnt it? and on top of it we got this constructed here too there is a dolmen kind of a structure they are offering pooje to it, we can go there and see this is another temple at Naganahalli known as the Brahmalingeshwara temple last time when we came here, this temple was closed so we could not see inside it how is the temple that too we were not aware this temple is unique by looking at it we can know that it is an ancient temple another speciality of this is this is a very happy new and also a information that can be said as an example here the temples original form has been retained although they have constructed walls all around it yet the original form which is there that they have retained this we can take as a example in all places because we in the name of restoration we have destroyed a lot of history in the name of renovation we are destroying everything how we need to preserve our history for that in this Kallur Naganahalli there is an example though outside walls are new but inside the original temple which is there they have retained the original one as it is similar kind of work we should do at all places to save our history inside the temple is such it is at a lower level it is like a cave temple preetam is taking us inside if we come down this is how the temple looks these stones are devoid of all carvings with us is Preetams father as well My name is Balarama annually once in a grand manner people from 50 village come here and donate food here people from 50 village gather here to donate food if they start now till morning 4 am the chariot procession will be there inside linga is there it is said that this was installed in the times of Mahabharata the god here is bramalingeshwara this god is at Naganahalli village i have been doing the temple service for the last 20 years here the god has lot of power, people are not aware of it it is said that, here a thick cobra comes and protects this place god has been taking good care of us till now i have done the service of the temple as much as i could since last year and this year i have handed over the temple service to others this temple is of Dwaparauga and not of recent times notice the structure you will know everything My name is Bettappa we are at Illavala hobli Mysore Taluk fathers name is Thammanna previously my grandfather, that is my fathers father since those period we have been doing the service Me: when all pooje will be there Archakaru: every Monday there will be pooje and if some one wants to get some pooje done we will come and do pooje as well Me: now food was being prepared, what was that for? here yearly once they do food donation by those who consider Bramalingeshwara as their house god they prepare food considered as prasada(food blessed by god) and that to served to the people who come for the food offered to god we make teluge or jaggery nice that is offered as prasada, now we are cooking that now after keeping prasada, we do homa and then we do pooje in front of the temple, one in front of this garbhagudi, they have made a design on the stone indicating that before entering the temple to see the main god, come here offer your prayers here and then go inside they had done on the stone in front Me: this has been there since those days itself? yes this has not been made by us, this has been here that those who come here have a darshana of this and then go inside that we have been following this is called as veeragallu My grandfather Bammegowda was there he had to come to offer the worship here and he had given 8 acers land to this temple Me: ok this temple has 8 acers of land to it that 8 acer has gone now, now villagers give salary to the archakaru and get the temple service done when declaration was done that land was taken over now just for Rs, 1000 he comes here and does the temple service RS 1000 does not work out for his petrol charges my fathers father he used to do, then my father now we are doing it from goverment side we have no support we have informed the RI about this we will get the request signed by all villagers from our grandfathers times we have bee doing the service our request to the government is to provide what ever little help that is possible. my name is Basavaraj this is out house god we come here once a year, we offer pooje and we celebrate the festival my name is harish i too am part of the temple house god group of people every year in this temple in a grand manner all villages join to gether along with all devotees the food donation is done this food distribution is done by all villagers joining together in full cooperation after the celebration in the evening this temple festival they celebrate it grandly all together in a grand way have joined together from every street every one with grandly, happily, join together to celebrate this temple festival grandly this is a well known god i come here every year every ones cooperation here will be very nice but here there is no kind of cooperation or support from the government all the devotees are the volunteers here they contribute the money to the temple, through which we do the celebrations my name is Mahesh from Kallur naganahalli this brahmalingeshwara temple is thousands of years old temple in here all the gods, chikkamma, doddamma, pataldamma, elu marsamma temple annually once all devotees come here people from almost 20 to 30 villages come here and celebrate the festival here in two ways on two days today all are doing the food offering they cook for almost 2000 people and every monday pooje is done they do it very nicely, all devotees do it on their own they get all the ingredients as well they themselves prepare it full night it is grandly celebrated for the village god every one of all ages join together to celebrate the leaders and the owners all coperate so everyone together celebrate it in a grand manner now gods idol will be got here cleaned and decorated and in every street the procession is taken out homa is done then grandly the rest of the rituals are carried out all devotees join together be come part of gods blessings and then return back peacefully this is what i would like to say now through this route god will be brought here and then gods idol is got here they take a right here from there to the Kaveri river through this route we get it here then to the river now we are going toward KRS backwaters this is where they clean the god there after we start the procession all night long in the village Me: what do you do there?
